Michael Schaff authored an article Representing Physicians
for Health Lawyers News magazine in September. The article addresses
the unique legal issues physicians face in the areas of employment
contracts, ownership agreements and their retirement or sale
of ownership interests.
Jay Ziznewski is being honored as "Citizen of the Year"
by the Woodbridge Chamber of Commerce at the Chairman's Awards
Dinner on October 30, 2002 at the Sheraton, Woodbridge Place,
Route 1 in Iselin.
On September 28, 2002, Michael Schaff served as co-moderator
and presented at the 2002 Health and Hospital Symposium hosted
by the New Jersey Bar Association at the Clariou Hotel in Edison.
Jim Petsche and John Murdoch also presented. Michael's presentation
was titled "The Physician and the Shareholder Agreement:
Practical Guidelines." Jim's subject was titled "Representing
Free-Standing Ambulatory Surgery Centers." John's topic
was titled "HMO Update: The Continuing Struggle between
State Law and ERISA."
On September 11, 2002, Darren Gelber participated in a radio
program on WCNJ radio concerning the impact of last year's terrorist
attacks. In his segment, he commented on the privacy rights
implicated by the USA PATRIOT ACT OF 2001 and other legal issues
stemming from the post 9/11 legal landscape. Shai Gold-Zafrastein,
president of the NJ chapter of the Anti Defamation league, was
also part of the same segment. Other participants in the show's
other segments included a retired Air Force colonel, Assemblyman
Upendra J. Chivukula (17th Dist.), and others. The show was
moderated by Himanshu Shukla.
