Leslie Jeddis Lang gave a presentation at the New Jersey
State Bar Association's "Fast Breaking Developments in
Construction Law: Evolution or Revolution?" seminar on
February 25, 2002 at the New Jersey Law Center in New Brunswick.
Retired New Jersey Supreme Court Senior Associate Justice
Alan B. Handler was the featured luncheon speaker at the Naional
Employment Lawyers Association's Third Circuit Conference
on February 23, 2002, speaking on the topic of mandatory arbitration
in the context of discrimination claims. Retired New Jersey
Supreme Court Senior Associate Justice Alan B. Handler, Christopher
Lenzo and Maureen Binetti also spoke on summary judgment motions,
recent sexual harassment cases and intake procedures, respectively,
at the conference.
Christopher Lenzo has become a court approved mediator for
employment law as of February 19, 2002.
On February 8, 2002, Viola Lordi judged the New Jersey State
high school competition on the history and principles of the
U.S. Constitution. The competition was held in Trenton at
the State House Annex. Viola appeared at the request of the
NJ Center for Civic and Law-Related Education.
Michael Schaff was a speaker on January 30, 2002 during
the American Health Lawyers Association teleconference "Managed
Care Contracting - Provider." Mr. Schaff addressed a
national audience of over 500 attendees at 120 locations on
how to effectively negotiate important provisions in a managed
care agreement. James Petsche and John Murdoch assisted Mr.
Schaff in preparation for the teleconference.
Christopher Lenzo has been appointed to the Supreme Court
Committee on Model Civil Jury Charges.
Gregory Noble has been appointed to the Board of Directors
of the Edison Chamber of Commerce.
Michael Schaff was a speaker at the 13th Annual Health Law
Forum in Nashville, Tennessee on January 23, 2002. Mr. Schaff
was one of the panelists in a program entitled "Legal
Ethics: A Panel Discussion." The seminar was sponsored
by the Tennessee Bar Association.
Michael Schaff spoke to an ICLE audience on January 17,
2002 at the New Jersey Law Center in New Brunswick. The topic
was "Representing Physicians in Transactions Involving
Medical Practices: Update 2002."
On January 16, 2002 our Family Law Team presented "A
Review of the 2001 Family Law Opinions" to 150 lawyers
and judges at The Pines Manor in Edison. The pre-dinner seminar
was sponsored by the Union and Middlesex County Bar Associations.
As in past years, the Family Law Team created and distributed
a case digest.
Michael Schaff moderated and spoke on a national teleconference
called "Bankruptcy: HMOs, Risk-Bearing Contractors and
Providers" on January 16, 2002. The teleconference was
sponsored by American Health Lawyers Association.
Roy Tanzman was named President of the New Jersey Region
of the American Jewish Congress. His appointment was announced
by the AJCongress National President Jack Rosen in mid-January.
Vincent Maltese was sworn in as the new Chairman of the
Board of Trustees at CentraState Healthcare System on January
10, 2002. CentraState Healthcare System, a non-profit community
organization located in Freehold Township, provides community
services through a full-service medical center, a skilled
nursing facility, a life care retirement community and a comprehensive
health education center. With an operating budget in excess
of $125 million, CentraState is the largest private employer
in Western Monmouth County.
Gordon Golum's article entitled "Suggested Amendments
to New Jersey Printed Commercial Real Estate Lease Forms"
appears in the most recent revision of New Jersey Practice
Series, Volume 22, Landlord and Tenant Law, Fifth Edition
by Raymond I. Korona.
